SAN JOSÉ GUESTHOUSE, SALOBREÑA - TROPICAL COAST (GRANADA)

1904 - 2023, over a century at the service of our visitors

Welcome to the Pensión San José website.

Situated in the old town, in Calle Cristo 68, the house where Pensión San José Guesthouse is located was built at the end of the 19th century. Initially it was a farmhouse for farm implements.

In 1904 it was used as an inn and was later transformed into a pension with the arrival of tourism in the 1960s, making it the oldest establishment in Salobreña used for tourist accommodation.

The most illustrious guest of the pension was the playwright José Martín Recuerda, who in 1960 wrote a large part of his play "Cómo las secas cañas del camino" (How the dry reeds of the road) here.

It is currently listed by the Town Hall as a building of typological interest as it is a well-preserved picturesque house from the 19th century.
